ON.DXB, the new regional festival designed to support industry growth and talent development in the media, entertainment and content development industries, has thrown open its doors for regional creatives in the film, game, video and music industries to submit original work for inclusion in the inaugural event – an initiative of Dubai Media City in conjunction with Dubai Film & TV Commission, which runs November 21-23 at Dubai Studio City.
The ON.DXB call for content is a unique opportunity for independent regional talent to showcase their work at the largest event of its kind in the region and to a global audience of industry specialists, investors, peers, and consumers.
Filmmakers and content creators will have the chance to screen original work to an industry and consumer audience, while indie game developers will be able to showcase trailers, live demos and any work in progress. Musicians and musical acts will have the opportunity to showcase their work in multiple formats – from live performances through to film compositions and digital music.
To enter original work in ON.DXB’s film, game, video and music categories, creators must submit a three-minute maximum sample of work on the ON.DXB website. The ON.DXB organising committee will work with a panel judges from each industry to review and rate all submissions, with those selected invited to showcase their work at ON.DXB.
The top 20 entrants grossing the highest ratings across all four categories will also be invited to showcase their work in the Industry Arena, where the ON.DXB conference will take place. This select group will pitch to Dubai Media City and Dubai Film & TV Commission judges for the chance to win a prize designed to accelerate their careers.
Majed Al Suwaidi, Managing Director of Dubai Media City, said: “One of the aims of ON.DXB is to attract and empower the best local and regional talent. By offering our greatest creative minds a platform to show their work to industry decision-makers, specialists, leading international companies and investors, we are stimulating partnership-building and development while reaffirming Dubai’s position as a global and regional capital for major creative talent.”
Jamal Al Sharif, of Dubai Film and TV Commission, added: “ON.DXB has been created for regional content creators and media professionals; our goal is to provide greater opportunities and enhance the ability. We want to offer budding talent the opportunity to showcase their work in front of a prime buying and consumer audience.”
ON.DXB will also offer tailored platforms for creators to upskill through a series of community workshops from in5, the enabling platform for entrepreneurs and startups launched by TECOM Group to foster innovation in the media, technology and design sectors.
ON.DXB will feature live music, workshops, keynote talks, indie game showcases and moderated networking opportunities, with sessions led by industry experts and celebrities from all over the world. The event will host industry participants including filmmakers, music producers, videographers, animators and game developers, in addition to government agencies working to develop the emirate’s fast-growing creative industries.
ON.DXB aims to stimulate business development and partnership building within the wider industry ecosystem and enhance Dubai’s status as a global and regional capital for major companies and talent.
